Summer’s Here!

June 29th, 2009

I’m confident summer is properly here, you’ve got to think positive!  It was glorious yesterday, the boys asked for the Crazy Daisy in the garden (which is our cue to take cover indoors, that thing sprays every inch of our garden!!).  Paul risked the splashes to get these fantastic photos (gotta love Picasa for the collage):

It’s more of the same today, so much so that Max and I retreated indoors at lunchtime, he was beetroot red, bless.  Long may it last :o).

I forgot to show the card I made for my dad for Fathers Day, I was really pleased to find this quote:

Papers are Dream Street ‘Mod Posy’, I added BG adhesive pearls.  And last week I did this one for my nephew, who is into dinosaurs:

Papers are BG, with a cartoon dino found on MS Clipart, and a felt Thickers 7.

A trip to the zoo

June 28th, 2009

Ok, so the trip was last Sunday, but never mind!  It’s taken me this long to get round to sorting a few photos to share.  We went to Banham Zoo (not far from us here in Norfolk) for a Fathers Day outing, and had such a great day.  We were very taken with the giraffes, they’re quite new to the zoo and have this fabulous raised walkway in their enclosure, so you can get up to their level.  As usual, Paul took some great pics:

The camels had good comedy value, there’s just something comical about them:

One of the recent babies born at the zoo was this Siamang, a type of gibbon, incredibly cute (the photo was taken through fencing, hence the blur):

Max’s favourite was the penguins:

and they had these great viewing windows where Max could get up-close and personal!  This inquisitive fellow took rather a shine to Max:

My personal favourite was the cute chap on the left…………

I had my local crop last week, and we challenged each other to use black and white papers, something not many of us use very often.  I came up with this:

For the black and white papers I used 7 Gypsies Napoli.  I added a handcut flower for a Cocoa Daisy challenge:

a-matching-set-detail_0.jpg

The reason for the title is that we were all dressed up for a friend’s wedding, but it wasn’t until we got to the reception that someone pointed out how well co-ordinated we were as a family - I hadn’t even noticed ’til then!

And this is another for Paul’s 40th birthday weekend album, of us crabbing off the harbour at Wells-next-the-Sea:

It all got a bit competitive, Paul kept on pulling up the crabs, but poor Bil just couldn’t get a single one, he got so frustrated it was really funny!

I tried something new for the journaling, stitching some journaling lines, really like the effect:

I used some October Afternoon for this, the gorgeous Hometown collection.

We’ve had such a lovely day at home today, pottering in the garden, the boys getting soaked in some fun water play - and now it’s pouring with rain!  Bloomin’ British weather, can’t keep up………

A bit of a catch-up

June 24th, 2009

I realised I’ve got some finished work I haven’t shared on here yet.  I have no idea whether anyone reads this or not (!) but I like to stick up posts of everything I make as a bit of a chronological record for myself, if nothing else - it makes great reading to go back a bit and see what I was up to this time last year!

Anyway, first up is this LO I started yonks ago, prompted by a challenge on Cocoa Daisy to use describing words as your journaling.  So I used these photos of a fudge-making session with the boys, it’s a lovely way of recording another of our kitchen adventures :o)

how-to-make-fudge.jpg

I’m one of those lucky scrappers who has a photographer for a husband, and therefore a never-ending supply of totally fab photos at my disposal.  I thought it was about time I recorded this in its very own LO. So here is Paul as I always see him when we’re out and about, hidden behind his beloved camera!

I used another Cocoa Daisy challenge on this, to print white wording on a coloured background for the journaling, I love this look:

That will do for now, more coming soon!

Quick Show ‘n’ Tell

June 7th, 2009

Oops, it’s been a while…….I just seem to have been so busy lately, not a lot of scrapping time, and not an awful lot of time to myself full-stop!  I have managed to squeeze in a couple of LO’s, though:

my-lifelong-friend.jpg

Supplies: Cocao Daisy May kit, plus AC Thickers, MM tiny alphas.  I took a strip of the SEI lace cardstock and dabbed paint through it for the top border, using the ’stencil’ strip for the bottom border.

When we met up with Deborah in Sheringham on Paul’s birthday weekend, I was pleased to get a lovely photo of the two of us (excuse the red faces, it’s partly the camera and partly lots of sun and wind out on a boat that morning!!).  I’ve known Debs since I was 4, we started school together and have been in touch ever since.  It’s one of those friendships where you can go months without contact and neither of us minds, we just pick up where we left off.

This is my second try at a 8.5×11″ LO, I rather like these!

formal-fun.jpg

Supplies: Cocoa Daisy May kit, adding Maya Road sheer journal spot, Bo Bunny rub-ons, Cosmo Cricket velvet ribbon, gems.

On Paul’s birthday night, we had to do the formal portrait, but when we’re together with Bil & Jo, we find it impossible to stay serious for long, and the photo-session soon degenerated into much hilarity (aided by generous quantities of bubbly…..).  This had to be documented, of course :o).

It’s supposed to rain today, our first wet day in a while, and poor Paul is off doing the Norwich 100, a 1o0 mile bike ride up to the north Norfolk coast and back.  Nutter.  Along with a load of other nutters, of course.  It’s just started to spot as I type, so I guess we’re in for an indoors day.  DVD and popcorn it is, then!

What a weekend

May 20th, 2009

It’s been a while since I blogged, but I’ve been soooo busy!  We’ve just been away for a long weekend with friends, to celebrate Paul’s 40th birthday.  It was fantastic!  We rented a large house in north-west Norfolk (see here), and had 4 great days jam-packed with walks, visits, a train-ride, a boat-ride, picnics, coffees, ice-creams, and LOTS of alcohol for the grown-ups :D.  Paul’s got all the good photographs on his camera, and I’m waiting for him to get them into a format I can use, but meanwhile here are a few snaps I took on the compact:

On Paul’s birthday we took a trip on a light railway from Walsingham to Wells-next-the Sea, it was teeny-tiny, and so much fun!  It also rained, but we were under cover:

paul-wells-train.jpg

We went on a boat trip to see the seals that can always be found on Blakeney Point, the children all loved it, and best of all, we met up with my oldest friend Deborah, we met when we were 4, and she and her family were on holiday in the area.  Here’s Sam and Max viewing the rather cute seals:

sam-max-seals.jpg

When the clouds cleared away we took a bracing walk on Brancaster beach, there was a lot of sand sculpture going on, it got quite competitive!  It’s an amazing wide, open beach, beautiful:

max-brancaster.jpg

And the birthday boy:

paul-40-brancaster.jpg

Lastly, here’s one of a fab crabbing session off the harbour at Wells, we’ve never done this before, it was ace!

crabbing.jpg

I’ll post some more when I get my hands on Paul’s pics.

On to some crafting, I managed to get my DT work done before we went away, I was lucky enough to be given lots from the new Crate collection, Little Sprout (see Make The Moment Last shop here), perfect for little boy LO’s, although versatile enough to be suitable for other themes, as the ‘Hello’ card shows:

sonshine.jpg look-whos-2.jpg little-man.jpg little-sprout-one.jpg little-sprout-hello.jpg

The glitter die-cuts are gorgeous, I especially love the trees.

Back soon with more holiday pics!
